Windows Driver Kit (WDK) 8 integrates with Visual Studio Professional 2012 to provide a complete environment for developing, deploying, testing, and debugging drivers.
Use this latest version of the WDK to develop drivers for Windows 8 and all versions of Windows, except Windows XP.  Use the WDK Version 7.1.0 to develop drivers for Windows XP.
Important: Install Visual Studio before installing WDK 8.
